Basic Drupal Elements

Some Things Are Different

Our county office Web pages are no longer able to be supported by FrontPage so we need to

migrate to another type of program to support our web sites. The College has done a piloting

program with a support group from each district that selected a content management system

called Drupal. Drupal is an open source software that allows a person or people to easily

publish, manage, and organize content on a Web site.

Benefits include ease of use (no need to know html or Dreamweaver software), Consistency of

design (the design is set-up already), database-driven technology (all information stores in a

database).

Some Things Stay the Same

This is a Content Management System, so the idea is for the general look and feel of the site to

be consistent for each county site. The pages are designed to look the same from one county to

the next, the navigation and major links and tabs are to be the same so visitors are able to

navigate quickly through the site locally and statewide.

Our goal in training is to familiarize you with the basic framework of the site. You will be able to

login and go back to your office to enter content into your county site.
